An aging Casanova falls in love with Angélique, a young marquise he meets in the Tuileries gardens, where she strolls every day in the company of Marceline, a duenna who never leaves her side. To approach Angelica, Casanova instructs his valet Frontin to lead Marceline away; but Marceline, having recognized Casanova as the man who seduced and abandoned her thirty years earlier, warns Angelica against the old seducer. When Angelica gives him a rendezvous at the Carnival masked ball, Casanova is sure to succeed. But has he overestimated his powers of seduction?
