Event at Avignon :
Le Grenier à sel presents the 3rd part of its "Symptoms of the living" cycle, with an exhibition that examines the animal kingdom and its specific modes of communication through the eyes of 10 contemporary artists.
To explore the question of animal language, the exhibition brings together artists who see creation as a space for dialogue with the living. Working mostly with digital tools (AI, robotics, sound art, augmented reality, animated drawings, video...), the artists presented are interested, each in their own way, in the mysteries of the animal world, its gestures, its emotions.
Three themes interweave on a journey where animals are in turn observed, listened to and examined, but also fantasized, dreamt about and invested with our fears and fascinations. From animal eloquence to inter-species communication and the voices we lend them, this exhibition gives pride of place to animal existence. For the duration of an aesthetic experience, perhaps it will encourage the human subject to adjust his or her gaze on animals, and envisage a different kind of encounter in which beasts no longer play the role of extras in our history.
With Erik Bünger - France Cadet - Dominique Castell - Nicolas Darrot - Lab212 - Jean Painlevé - Daniel Spoerri - Tout reste à faire - Knud Viktor - Filipe Vilas-Boas
